Locate Critical Items in Your Unit
(if not received at closing)
• 1 extra house key (you should receive one at closing)*
• 2 mailbox keys
• 2 keys for the Clubhouse and Log Cabin (same key opens both buildings)
• 1 entry gate opener** (another should be given to you at closing)
• 2 garage door openers***

**Be sure a copy of your house key is provided to the Corporate Secretary (CorpSecBRCA@gmail.com) for keeping in a safe. This ensures that, if there is an issue with your unit when you are away, access can be made.
**Gate openers and gate codes are available from the Gates Committee (BRCA.Gates@gmail.com)
***Garage door openers may be purchased at Home Depot or Lowe’s.

Also learn the locations of:
• Window screens and storm door inserts, along with operating information (if present)
• Interior water main turn-off
• Shut-off valve(s), if present, for exterior hose bib(s)
• Light switch(es) in the crawl space (if present)
• Instructions for changing the code to the garage door keypad, if one is present
• Manuals and operating information for appliances and other home features and systems, such as the HVAC system, gas logs and internet-connected appliances
• Documents showing past alterations and receipts, if any
The seller or your real estate agent may be able to help if you have trouble locating these items.

Dispose of Moving Boxes
To dispose of moving boxes, please flatten them and put them out a few at a time on recycling day (see below) or take them to a recycling location. If the boxes won’t fit in your recycling bin, place them next to it. For answers about recycling, visit www.curbie.com, select the “Residential Services” tab and “Asheville.”

Manage Garbage and Recycling
The City of Asheville collects garbage every Tuesday and recycling every other Tuesday. See the Beaverdam Run calendar for recycling pick-up dates.
• Securely close trash in large plastic bags before depositing it in the big green rolling bin in your garage.
• Don’t bother sorting or bagging recyclables before placing them in the big blue recycling bin.
• To discourage wildlife and prevent a messy situation, please don’t put garbage out before 7 a.m. on pick-up day.
• Place the bins curbside, lid opening side facing the street, separated to allow room for the garbage and recycling trucks to maneuver.

Get Set Up to Open the Entry Gate for Visitors
As a first step in welcoming visitors to your new home, contact the Gates Committee (BRCA.Gates@gmail.com) to log your phone number(s) and name(s) in the Entry Gate system. With your information in hand, the Gates Committee will provide you with a unique “unit access code,” which, when keyed in at the entry kiosk, will open the gate.

Deliver a House Key and/or Alarm Instructions to the Corporate Secretary
If you re-key or replace exterior door lock(s) or add or change an alarm system, provide the key(s) and/or instructions to the Corporate Secretary. Please make arrangements by emailing the Corporate Secretary (CorpSecBRCA@gmail.com).

Change Garage Door Code
If an exterior garage keypad is present, change the code using the instructions provided by the seller. You may also want to change the code in your garage door openers.

Find and Check Your Mailbox
The U.S. Postal Service delivers to locked mailboxes in our Gazebo, located in the parking area across from the Log Cabin. Your mailbox key opens your unit’s mailbox. Inside the Gazebo, you’ll also see open horizontal slots assigned to units. These are for communications within Beaverdam Run. Please check these regularly. If you will be away for a length of time, place one of the colorful plastic blocks (located above the mailboxes) in your slot. Remove it when you return.
