Common Spaces

Clubhouse

The Clubhouse is the center of community activities. In addition to an event room with a widescreen display, the building has a fully-equipped kitchen, heated indoor swimming pool, a fitness room with TV, Wi-Fi, lockers, showers, and saunas.
An outside patio wraps around the event room and the swimming pool. Outdoor furniture and gas grills are available on the patio for everyone's use. The tennis court is located next to the Clubhouse.

Log Cabin & Dog Park

The Log Cabin has meeting/game rooms, a pool table, a small lending library, Wi-Fi and three fireplaces.
The fenced-in area allows unleashed dogs to play with their owners or other dogs.
An article in the Asheville Citizen dated May 16, 1937 reports that Log Cabin was built in the late 1700's and was the former home of David Swain, three times governor of North Carolina and many years President of the University of North Carolina, and his cousin General Joseph Lane, who became the governor of Oregon.

Japanese Garden

The Japanese garden is one of our most beautiful and photographed spots. Located on your right when entering the property, it provides visitors and residents alike with a wonderful first impression of our community.
A path meanders around the pond and the many flowering plants that paint the garden in varying colors depending on the season. Benches are strategically placed throughout the garden providing a vantage point for the abundant fauna found around the pond.
It's a peaceful place ... for meditation or simply enjoying nature.

Gazebo

The Gazebo is located off Governors Circle, in the elevated parking area between Clubside Drive and Governors Drive.  All US Post office ordinary mail is delivered to your secured-box in the Gazebo. There are several slots to place outgoing mail.
The Gazebo also facilitates inter-BRCA communication. Each mail box has a corresponding, open "pigeonhole" with an appropriate address label. That's the place to put memos, circulars, or envelopes intended for other residents.

Ponds

There are five ponds on the property. Two, the "entry ponds" (pictured here), can be seen on the right immediately as you enter; these are fed by Beaverdam Creek. Next on the right after the gate is the pond that is part of the Japanese Garden (see prior article). Hillside Pond, fed by an Artesian well, lies behind 15-17 Ridge Terrace. Sunset Pond, fed by Beaverdam Creek, lies behind 32-34 Clubside Drive.

Community Garden Plots

Garden plots are available for residents based on a sign-up process that takes place each year. There is a small shed for tool storage. Hoses are scattered throughout the area for easy watering.
Most of the plot gardeners grow summer vegetables but a few of the avid gardeners plant cold weather crops as well.
